"Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow. Only through the right education can a better order of society be built up"
.......Jawahar Lal Nehru
As I sit down to gather my thoughts on what to say about these amazing little beings called “children” I feel a plethora of emotions to the extent of hearing those sweet laughter noises of so many of them.
I can recall my own childhood and excitement to be with my friends. We were least bothered about anything else in the world. We were the world, the nostalgia continues as I now see the new generation of kids growing up.
When we speak of children, the foremost thing that comes to mind is the laughter and playfulness, abundant energy, and innocence, and not to forget the wit they possess. Children are considered carefree and worries and most often not so important in the decisions we make.
However, we tend to forget that we adults were also children at one point in time. Children are not only a source of stress busters or means of entertainment for tired minds, but we must understand that they play a vital role in contributing to the effectiveness of building a strong nation.
Importance of children’s day
World children’s day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and to improve children's welfare.
In India Children’s day is celebrated across the country to raise awareness about the rights of children, welfare of children, and to provide them with education. The First Prime Minister of India, Shri. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day.
Do children have rights?
Having said that these cute-looking, small human beings are wonderful, and there is a need to stress the importance of their rights and well-being.
They possess the same rights that an adult may have in the family or society as a whole. They cannot be considered the property of their parents nor can they be looked upon as helpless objects. Children need to be treated with love and respect.
The concept of love and respect begins in the family and thereby moves on as the child grows. If the basic fundamental requirements are not met then there is a failure in the children’s rights.
Importance of children’s rights
As per UNICEF, There are many reasons for singling out children's rights in a separate human rights Convention:
What do children want?
Wow, indeed this is a brilliant question that many of them have posed and have been looking for answers to the same.
Some of the responses that we received from kids across all age groups starting from 2 onwards up to 18 years are shared here.
Unconditional love
Respect
To be understood
To be listened to
To be cared for
Patience
Acceptance
Being non-judgmental
Empathy and not sympathy
To be there with them
Not to be belittled
Mindful advising
Not to be compared
To understand that they are unique
To be appreciated
Role of caregivers and society towards children
Education is the foundation of a child’s future and well-being. Child rights education (CRC) promotes the vision articulated in the CRC Preamble that “the child should be fully prepared to live an individual life in society, and brought up in the spirit of the ideals proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations, and in particular in the spirit of peace, dignity, tolerance, freedom, equality and solidarity”.
Education is a basic human right that works to raise men and women out of poverty, level inequalities, and ensure sustainable development. But worldwide 244 million children and youth are still out of school for social, economic, and cultural reasons (rising kashmir.in).
There is a strong need to understand why so many of our children across are unable to inherit what is rightfully theirs.
It’s an urgent cry for us to join hands in providing for these children or making them aware of their rights. It’s the responsibility of each and every one of us to build a stronger and sound world for our children.
Children are the most important part of a family and society as a whole. They determine as to what is the fate of that country or the world in the future. Empowered children will create an empowered world.
On this very special day, let us all celebrate the innocence and purity of our kids. Let them feel precious in every way that we can because they are our future. Happy Children’s Day!

Psychological limits are essential for protecting mental health, acting as invisible barriers that prevent overexertion and emotional collapse. Much like the "wall" faced by marathon runners, these limits signal when it's time to pause and recharge. Respecting these boundaries is crucial for maintaining mental well-being, preventing burnout, and building resilience. By understanding these limits and adopting strategies like mindfulness and stress management, we can foster a healthier mind and highlight the importance of prioritizing mental health in our daily lives.
Holidays can make us happy, but sometimes make us stressed. This happens because we worry about money, meeting others, or making everything perfect. Being mindful helps us manage these problems by making us thankful, centered, and connected. We do this by keeping our goals reasonable, appreciating what we have, spending less time on devices, taking care of ourselves, and eating thoughtfully. Routine habits like meditating, journaling, or active thinking can make our holidays more calm and satisfying. When we focus on being present and healthy, holidays become a time to think, connect with others, and create lasting memories.
